When a love for surgery meets a passion to help people

Surgery is something that I have always enjoyed and excelled at, from organising large spay campaigns as a pioneering community service vet, to striving to master new skills in a busy 7 vet private practice.

Over the last 10 years, I have grabbed every opportunity that has come my way, from South African surgery congresses, international webinars and training passed down from a previous specialist, to more formal instruction such as a Principles in Small Animal Fracture Management Course (Warsaw) and an Advanced Techniques in Small Animal Fracture Management Course (Lisbon) held by the world-renowned AO Vet Foundation.

But this is not enough if it is not accessible to the people who really need it! In South Africa there exists a large gap between the veterinary specialists, who are unaffordable for a large percentage of our population, and the general practitioners, who don’t have the time, desire or capital outlay to offer advanced surgery services.

This is where Cutting Edge Surgery comes in! We want to bring advanced surgery services to pet owners unable to afford veterinary specialists. Not just pins, wires and a prayer, but a quality service promoting a high standard of veterinary care for those animals in less fortunate circumstances.
